The Believers alternative to Easter (Ishtar?)

The Believer’s alternative to Easter (Ishtar?)

‘Alternative to Easter?’  You may ask, “why should there be an alternative?”  Well, to keep a festival celebrating the death and resurrection of Yahshua (Jesus) has got to be right, but the name it is given, and some of the teaching associated with it is completely wrong and it has pagan origins as most people most likely will realise.

Some of the practises, too, are unscriptural and not to be entertained considering their origins. The Easter Eggs, the chocolate treats, the Easter Bunny, the three days and three nights fitting between Friday and Sunday, ‘Maunday Thursday’ ‘Good?’ Friday?’ and even Resurrection Sunday morning, are flawed big time… Please bear with me as I explain…

Yes, there has got to be an alternative, if we are not to support pagan practises in our worship of Yahshua (Jesus) the Risen One, the Son of Yahweh (God). He is desiring to ‘clean’ up our act. We need to be ready, walking in truth when He returns for His Congregation (Church). The Holy Spirit has been given to us to ‘lead us into all truth’ Joh 16:13  “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: “ He is desiring us to strip away ‘pagan-ity’ from our lives and worship, but are we listening to Him?

The alternative is so obvious it is almost ridiculous that we do not already celebrate it. The perfect alternative and true festival is the Festival of Passover. We read it everywhere in the Scriptures, and especially in the Gospels and again, mainly around the death and resurrection of Yahshua (Jesus) which perfectly mirrors the message of His death and resurrection. Paul himself said to the Corinthian (Gentiles?) believers 1Co 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

“What form should it take?” Are we to observe the Jewish traditions? As New Covenant believers, we are able to add a new dimension to the Feast. That dimension being Yahshua (Jesus) our Saviour. We are able to bring our own experience alongside that of the Israelites, as the ‘circumcized of heart’ in observing the wonderful freedom our Deliverer Yahshua has procured for us. As we see the definite parallels in the Passover Meal to our own understanding of Yahshua being our Deliverer, we are able to partake with joy, knowing that He has also delivered us from bondage, and set us free. Not as a substitute for the normal Passover meal but as an addition to it. We can liken the bitter herbs, unleavened bread, salt water etc. to our own experience in Salvation…

It is time to put things back into Biblical order. It is time to see that as ‘knowledge increases’ in the earth we need to return to the Scriptures and put off our pagan practices and fleshly pursuits around the most important Festival of the ‘Christian’ calendar. The Holy Spirit is desiring to lead us into all truth, but are we listening, or are we so ‘hooked up’ to our flesh and warped teachings which have crept into the church that we are deaf to His pleading and blind to His leading?

The practices of Easter, the ‘cosiness’ of it all are mostly from the worship of Ishtar, the Goddess of Fertility, (hence the eggs… do your own research…) Do we believers in the King of Kings desire to include her in our worship and in the celebrations of the life-changing, world-changing, eternal truths of the death and resurrection of our beloved Saviour?

We don’t need these practices.  The true Feast, the Feast of Passover is brim full of wonderful parallels and exciting ‘things to do’ to commemorate and remember Yahshua’s magnificent sacrifice for our sins, gaining us Eternal Life and saving us from the ‘Second Death’ mentioned so many times in the New Testament scriptures. (Rev 2:11, 20:6, 20:14, 21:8 “But the fearful….all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.”)

The Parallels – of which there are many, but to mention just a few:

  1. As the people (Israelites) cried out because of their affliction in Egypt, and their cruel taskmasters, so we cried out because of sin in our lives and our cruel taskmaster (the adversary of our souls).
  2. Yahweh (God) heard the cry of the Israelites in their bondage and desire for freedom. So Yahweh heard the cry of our hearts to be free, to have victory over our trials and tribulations, problems and heartaches caused by sin.
  3. Because of the cry of the Israelites, Yahweh sent them a deliverer, Moses to lead them out of bondage to the freedom of the Promised Land. So Yahweh sent Yahshua the greatest of all deliverers to set us free from our bondages, and lead us into the Promised Land, Eternal Life and freedom in the future from the second death.
  4. In the same way that Yahweh asked Moses to deal with Pharaoh to free the Israelites He asked Yahshua to come to earth to set us free from our Pharaoh the adversary. The only difference is, that Moses was a reluctant deliverer, but Yahshua declared, “Here am I, send Me!” as the scriptures suggest. (Isa 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. )

5.The Israelites were instructed to bring a lamb of the first year on the 10th day of the first month, keep him until the 14th day and kill him. In the same way, Yahshua rode into Jerusalem and presented Himself on the 10th day of the first month. On the 14th day He too was hanged on a tree and died.

  1. The blood of the Passover lamb was to be smeared on the doorposts and lintels of their houses. This would be the sign to the Angel of death not to kill their firstborn. The parallel in our lives, is, that when Yahshua was crucified His blood flowed down, and when we apply His blood to our lives to cleanse us from sin then we too are saved from death, the second death, the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.

Another point of interest:  The ‘Good’ Friday – Resurrection Sunday issue.

There are clearly not three days and three nights between ‘Good’ Friday and ‘Easter’ Sunday. This is a fallacy.

The Sabbath spoken about in the Gospels was in fact the Biblical Feast Sabbath, which, in that year fell on Wednesday evening to Thursday evening (‘The evening and the morning were the first day…’ Genesis) Yahshua was crucified on the Eve of the Biblical Sabbath, Wednesday afternoon. They rushed to get Him in the tomb because the Sabbath was drawing on.

He was then in the tomb  Wednesday to Thursday late afternoon, one day and one night, Thursday afternoon to Friday afternoon, two days and two nights, and then Friday afternoon to late Saturday afternoon, three days and three nights exactly.

Miriam went to the tomb before it came light between evening Saturday and daylight on   Sunday sometime to find Him already gone! ( Mat 28:1  In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

Joh 20:1  The first of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and saw the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Mar 16:1  And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.)

Now we know why He was gone when they arrived when it was still dark, as He came out from the grave late Saturday afternoon towards evening ‘evening and morning were the first day…’  So He rose late Saturday afternoon, as Sabbath was ‘going out’ so to speak, before the first day began to dawn.

The truth is there if we seek it, and I am sure that the One Who desires us to know all truth in sending His holy Spirit to lead us into it, would desire for us not only to know the whole truth of the matter, but to turn away from pagan practises and distorted calendars and embrace the truth and walk in it. Are YOU challenged? I hope so, I used to be a staunch ‘Good Friday, Easter Sunday person’ until the holy Spirit began to deal with me and lead me into truth on this issue. I was challenged, and He has continued to lead into all truth. We are not wholly there, but we are following….! Yahweh bless you as you also seek to ‘Walk in all Truth’
